Jason Slack

I help lead a church for college students at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio called h2o. My family (along with a team of 21) moved to Kent in the summer of 2008 to plant the church (a Great Commission Ministries church plant originating at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio).

The course of my life was dramatically changed simply by finding a church that was more than just a “Sunday morning service.” On the college campus at Bowling Green, I realized that church actually looked more like a community of like-minded people doing life together—practically seeing each other everyday. In this way, church was alive and active as the community effectively challenged each other to draw closer to the heart of Jesus Christ. The book of Acts records how the boundaries of the Christian faith were pushed to the uttermost parts of the world through the multiplication of new churches. At GCM, we believe in the power of church planting to reach spiritually lost people for Christ. And so just as h2o was started at BGSU twenty-five years ago by a handful of people following the Lord, we too have followed Him to where He has called us. Kent State University is a campus with a tremendous need for a community of believers committed to making Christ known. We are honored that God has called us to help fulfill His mission on this campus.
